Loony Professor Claims Equation Proves the Existence of God!

The President of the First Coast Freethought Society and Northeast Florida United Coalition of Reason media representative, Earl Coggins; as well as JAM member and Northeast Florida United Coalition of Reason media representative for the St. Augustine Atheist and Freethinker group, Shawn Liu, were both recently interviewed by Chauncy Glover of Action News Jacksonville.

The story revolves around the Tulane University Professor who claims to have a mathematical proof for the existence of god. Dr. Frank Tipler is a Mathematics Professor at Tulane and his preposterous claim was published in an underwhelming book (The Physics of Christianity)  in 2007.
"We have a simple very straight forward proof of the existence of God," says Dr. Frank Tipler.  He claims he has made a divine discovery.

"It is not possible to divorce theology from science without throwing out Christianity," added Tipler.

Dr. Tipler explains his theory by saying "The singularity is outside of space a time is the ultimate uncaused of everything. therefore the initial singularity is God. Christianity has a way to say that this quote in time, is at this point God, the father will be all and all, the whole universe is moving into God."

Which is clearly a lot of Pseudo-scientific gibberish to anyone with even the most remote understanding of Astrophysics, math or logic. I will say kudos to Chauncy Glover for being unbiased enough to present a fair and balanced view of the story.  (Imagine having two nonreligious views represented!) Still, I hardly see how this ridiculous claim should be deemed news worthy. Personally, I feel anyone who could seriously pose such an absurd theory should not only be removed from the University, but stripped of his Ph.D and his teaching credentials. I am sure he'd be able to find a fine job teaching mythology as a Priest or a Pastor with the other loons, but such patent nonsense has no place in an institution of higher learning.
