Sommer Thompson, a missing Florida girl was found dead earlier today. Her body was found in a landfill in Georgia. The police have not yet released the cause or nature of the death, but they have verified that her body was positively identified via dental records. Georgia, and Florida forensics specialists are continuing to investigate. Sommer was last seen approximately 500 yards from her school out side of a vacant home which had been abandoned since a house fire that had occurred there a few months ago. Police are not sure if or how the abandoned home factors into the crime. Police have obtained permission from the home owners to enter the house and conduct an investigation. As of now, there remain 5 known sex offenders in the Orange Park area of Jacksonville, which the police have not yet managed to get in touch with in person. They expect to have made positive contact with the 5 remaining sex offenders soon.
